Michelle Horin, MHS, OTR/L, SIPT
Kidz Korner - Owner
Michelle graduated from the University of South Alabama in 2002 with a Bachelor’s in Occupational Therapy and later completed her Master’s degree at the University of Florida in 2006. She is licensed in the state of Florida and is certified by the National Board of Occupational Therapy. Michelle has worked extensively in pediatrics for almost ten years in both Florida and Georgia in many different areas including home health, hippotherapy, aquatic therapy, clinic-based, and school-based practice.
As an occupational therapist, Michelle’s areas of interest include children with Sensory Processing Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, fine/gross motor delays, as well as visual motor and perceptual delays. She has attended numerous professional courses to facilitate her knowledge. Continuing education classes she has attended include ones in the areas of sensory processing, DIR/Floortime Model, Therapeutic Listening, Integrated Listening System, R.I.S.E., Retained Primitive Reflex Integration, Eyesight to Insight, Beyond Eyesight to Insight, Autism Spectrum Disorders, visual/vestibular rehabilitation, Praxis Intervention, Sensory Integration Techniques, Visual Processing and the Brain, Visual Processing Assessment, and Handwriting Without Tears. She is certified to administer the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test.
Michelle grew up in the area and is familiar with the community in Northwest Florida. She is married to Matt and has four beautiful children, Will, Luke, Matthew, and Mallory. She welcomes the challenge of meeting the needs that each individual family has while creating an environment that is fun and successful for everyone.
Shannon Lindsay, M.S., OTR/L, SIPT, Kidz Korner - Lead Therapist
Shannon pursued an occupational therapy degree secondary to her love and passion for helping others in a creative way. She is from the Gulf Coast area and graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelors of science, pre-occupational therapy in 2006. She continued her education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she graduated with a masters of occupational therapy in 2008. She is licensed in the state of Florida and is certified by the National Board of Occupational Therapy.
Shannon has worked in several settings and areas of practice from a neonatal intensive care unit with premature babies to a skilled nursing facility with the elderly. Majority of her clinical experience is in the area of pediatrics. Shannon has attended numerous continuing education classes related to sensory processing, autism, Constraint Induced Movement Therapy, S.O.S. Feeding Techniques and is certified to administer the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test. Shannon's clinical interests include inclusion and community integration of individuals with special needs, adaptive sports, fine/gross motor delays, visual motor integration, sensory processing, and developmental delays. Shannon loves to collaborate with other professionals, teachers, parents, and caregivers to provide a holistic approach to further increase the success of her patients.
Amie Terbrak, MOT, OTR/L, SIPT - Co-Lead; Staff and Clinic Development
Amie graduated from Maryville University, in Saint Louis Missouri, with a Master’s of Occupational Therapy in May 2013. She gained experience in pediatrics during her clinical rotation here at Kidz Korner and joined the team to fulfill her passion of working with children. She found her experience to be very rewarding and fulfilling and is proud to be a part of the team at Kidz Korner. She is licensed in the state of Florida and is certified by the National Board of Occupational Therapy.
Amie is excited to further her knowledge in varying treatment strategies and continue advancing her skills as a pediatric therapist in order to ensure each child’s needs are being met. She has attended continuing education in the areas of Sensory Integration, Retained Primitive Reflex Integration, visual-vestibular therapy, Integrated Listening System (iLs), Building Blocks for Sensory Integration, and Pediatric Yoga. Amie is certified to administer the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test. She strives to incorporate each child’s interests into therapy sessions as therapy is most successful when it is fun and meaningful to the child. Amie utilizes play activities to help children perform to their fullest potential and acquire new skills in a fun and engaging way. She enjoys working with children and their families to identify goals and help them achieve greater functioning within their everyday lives.
Erin Lee, MOT, OTR/L, SIPT - Co-Lead
In May of 2013, Erin Ranz graduated from Maryville University in St. Louis, MO, with her masters in occupational therapy. A Midwest native, Erin has always had a heart for helping others. After being introduced to occupational therapy, she was excited about putting that passion to use.
Since Erin has worked at Kidz Korner she has completed continuing education courses to further her repertoire of pediatric knowledge. She completed the SOS Approach to Feeding Course and is now seeing kids who are extremely picky because of tactile sensitivities or oral motor delays. She has also become SIPT certified and can administer the SIPT test to kids who have sensory processing difficulties. Erin enjoys every opportunity to help the families that walk through our door! Erin is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and has also had the opportunity to travel to Guatemala and Honduras to use her occupational therapy skills. In Guatemala, she worked in an orphanage for severely disabled children and adults, and in Honduras she was a part of a medical mission team that provided healthcare to numerous villages.
Sarah Skipper, MS, OTR/L, SIPT

Sarah graduated from the University of Florida with her Bachelor’s degree in Health Science in 2012. She continued her education at Florida Gulf Coast University to pursue her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, graduating in May 2014. Sarah is licensed to practice in the state of Florida and is certified by the National Board of Occupational Therapy. Sarah completed a 3-month clinical rotation here at Kidz Korner while pursuing her master’s degree where she gained experience in pediatrics. She joined the team to pursue her passion of working with children. Since working at Kidz Korner, Sarah has attended continuing education and training courses to further her knowledge in numerous areas including sensory integration, DIR/Floortime Model, Integrated Listening Systems (iLs), and autism spectrum disorders. She has also become certified to administer the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT) for children with difficulties with sensory processing and praxis skills. Sarah’s clinical interests include sensory processing difficulties, coordination disorders, autism, fine/gross motor delays, visual motor/perceptual delays, and general developmental delays. Sarah and her husband, Corey, live in Niceville. Sarah grew up in the area and loves being able to serve her community and build relationships with the kids and families as well as being a part of the amazing team of therapists we have at Kidz Korner.
Mary (Angie) Bryce-Travis MOTR, OTR/L, SIPT
Lead ECAC Therapist
Angie has been practicing occupational therapy since 1998. She completed her bachelor coursework for Therapeutic Recreation at the University of Florida and then received her Masters of Occupational Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. As part of her Masters studies, she completed a thesis on the Alert Program, a sensory integrative approach for self regulation in the pediatric population. Angie is licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of Florida and is certified by the National Board of Occupational Therapy.
The majority of her practice experience is in pediatrics with a focus on sensory integration. She has practiced pediatric occupational therapy in the home, school, and clinic settings and has supervised many O.T. students. She has attended numerous continuing education classes in the areas of sensory integration, pediatric feeding, school based therapy, handwriting, DIR floortime, and Jeanetta Burpee’s intensive sensory integration training level I. She is also certified to administer the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test. She has given several lectures regarding sensory integration and the autistic population to parents and educators of autistic children in the Alachua County area. She also co-founded and co-owned a private pediatric occupational and speech therapy clinic in Gainesville, Fl where she worked until moving to Niceville, Fl. At this time she took time off in order to stay home with her young children.
Angie lives in Niceville with her husband of 20 years and 3 children. She and her family love sports and outdoor/water activities. Now that her children are all school aged, Angie is excited about re-entering the field of occupational therapy. She is especially excited to have found Kidz Korner which offers such a warm and dynamic setting where she can continue her love of helping children and families.
Jaime Singletary, OTR/L
Jaime graduated from the University of South Alabama in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy. Her experience includes acute care, inpatient rehab and outpatient adults with emphasis on stroke and brain injury, as well as school systems. She worked as a travel OT for 5 years working in a variety of settings. Jaime began to take an interest in pediatrics in 2015 as she was working in the schools. Her background in neuro, cognition and behavior has carried over in the transition into outpatient pediatrics. She has furthered her knowledge with courses including sensory integration, floor time model, reflex integration and iLS.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time at the beach, hiking and camping.
Chrissy Smillie, OTR/L
Chrissy has always known she wanted to work with people and pursued an occupational therapy degree secondary to her love for others. She is from the midwest, born and raised in rural Cleveland, Ohio and attended the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio. She graduated in December 2012 with a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy in a total of 4 years due to an accelerated track. She is licensed in both AZ and FL and is certified by the National Board of Occupational Therapy. She completed most of her training in NE Ohio then accepted her first hospital position in Phoenix, AZ where she remained until June 2017. Chrissy relocated with her husband to the Gulf Coast on military orders and has recently welcomed her first daughter, Leah.
Chrissy has worked in many different medical settings including outpatient adult therapy, nursing homes/assisted living centers, small community hospitals and major trauma centers. Majority of her clinical experience is in the area of physical dysfunction. After the birth of her daughter, Chrissy felt a calling to pediatrics that she had to pursue. Chrissy had a rough pregnancy and her child, while in utero, was almost diagnosed with multiple medical issues. Through this time, she really felt emotionally connected to other parents who were experiencing the same fears and admiring those already going through it. Arming herself to prepare for having and treating a child with a special needs, she discovered herself immersed in the education of infants and toddlers. Her interests include early intervention and school-aged children and the treatment of those with special needs, fine and gross motor delays, sensory processing and helping them succeed in all areas of their life. Chrissy loves children and is thrilled to begin working at Kidz Korner.
Alyssa Files, MHS, OTR/L
Alyssa graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy in 2014. She has worked in pediatrics in Arkansas for the past two and a half years and recently moved to the gulf coast with her loving husband Chris and two precious boys Roman and Walker. She has always had a compassionate heart for others and truly loves seeing the proud smiles of her clients as they learn and explore their environments. She is licensed in the state of Florida and Arkansas and is also certified with the National Board of Occupational Therapy.
Alyssa has completed continuing education in several areas such as Sensory Diets, Integrated Listening Systems (iLs), Reflex Integration to Support Education (R.I.S.E.), and the Therapeutic use of the Ipad. She is looking forward to furthering her knowledge and gaining experience in the areas of sensory integration and modulation, The Astronaut Training Program, and S.O.S. feeding. Alyssa’s clinical interests include creating a fun-loving environment for children while developing a close relationship with families to provide the absolute best care and treatment for her clients. Each child is special and different in their own way and she feels so blessed to have a job that helps expand on their strengths while also facilitating enhancement in areas they need improvement.
Nicole Falkenstein, MS, OTR/L
Nicole graduated from Biola University in Southern California in 2016 with a degree in Kinesiology. Nicole then began her journey of pursuing a masters in occupational therapy across the country at East Carolina University in eastern North Carolina, and graduated in December 2018. During her clinical rotations, Nicole gained experience working in inpatient rehabilitation with patients with traumatic brain injuries. She has always had a passion for helping and teaching kids which was confirmed during her clinical rotation in the school system. Her clinical interests include addressing fine motor skills, handwriting, visual motor integration, and visual perceptual skills.
Nicole spent many of her summers visiting family in Northwest Florida and is excited to serve the children in this area.
Holly Hanson, OTR/L
Holly grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Quinnipiac University in Ct with a BS in Occupational Therapy in 1985. She has many years of experience in adult rehabilitation and the school system with a wide variety of disabilities. She is also very proud of her own two children - Danny is 28 and Melissa is 26 years old. Holly loves the beach and boating life here in Florida and plays tennis regularly. She is excited to be a team member at Kidz Korner!
Zoely Vera, MS, OTR/L
Zoely received her Bachelor of Science degree in 2006 from the University of Florida and her Master of Occupational Therapy degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2009. She has experience working with both children and adults in various settings, but has most recently been working in pediatrics, providing services to the Early Intervention to teen-aged population. Zoely has a special interest in Sensory Processing Disorder and Handwriting interventions. She is a lifelong learner and frequently attends continuing education courses in order to learn and develop more strategies and tools for her practice. She is certified in Therapeutic Listening, Beckman Oral Motor, and has completed the STAR Institute Intensive Level I Mentorship for Sensory Processing. She is passionate about helping families and children live their best life everyday. During her downtime, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, participating in outdoor activities, and following Gator and Saints football!
Amanda Warfield, MS, OTR/L
Amanda graduated from The Ohio State University in 2012 with a degree in Biology. After graduating, Amanda decided that occupational therapy was the right career field for her and pursued her master of occupational therapy at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, graduating in December 2017. Amanda is licensed by the states of Florida and New Mexico as well as certified by the National Board of Occupational Therapy. Amanda had gained experience and love for pediatrics in a school based setting during her clinical rotations and later by taking on more and more pediatric patients in a mostly adult outpatient setting as the facility grew. Amanda’s other areas of experience include outpatient hand/upper extremity orthopedic and neurologic injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and a small case load of acute care patients.
Amanda is new to the area, moving here with her husband and son. Her areas of clinical interest include sensory processing disorders, handwriting, fine motor skills, and feeding intervention.
Physical Therapist Biographies
Allison Zivney, DPT, NDT Certified, Lead Physical Therapist
Allison graduated from the Department of Physical Therapy at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, in May of 2015. I had a variety of clinical experiences in school, including skilled nursing facilities, a stroke specialty center, and pediatrics. I originally discovered my love for pediatrics while on a mission trip to Honduras in 2010 where our group worked with a local orphanage, and I loved it so much I went back 5 times. I am originally from Marion, Arkansas and have been vacationing on the Emerald Coast with my family since I was little. I always thought this would be a great area to live in, so I decided to try it out. I am very excited to get connected with the amazing people in the area and have an opportunity to serve the community.
Rebecca Bush, DPT
Rebecca is a Doctor of Physical Therapy who received her degree from St. Louis University in 2010. She received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with a double major in psychology in 2008. During her clinical experiences, she was fortunate to complete one of her full-time rotations at St Louis Children's Hospital. It was there while working with children that she discovered how truly rewarding physical therapy can be. She has been working in the pediatric outpatient setting for the past 5 years in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Rebecca is excited for the opportunity to now live and work in the Emerald Coast. She is humbled and blessed to be able to continue assisting children gain their highest potential.
Speech Therapy Biography
Cathy Riley, M.S., CCC-SLP
Cathy grew up in a military family, moved several times throughout her childhood, and has lived in many different places. She graduated from Texas State University in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders and then completed her master’s degree at the University of Houston in 1994. She began her career in Speech-Language Pathology in the TX public schools working with elementary students and in early childhood classrooms. After a few years, she took a short time off to live and play in Steamboat Springs, CO where she met her husband, Randy. After getting married and moving to FL she worked in hospital and rehabilitation settings until she gave birth to her daughter Addie in the fall of 2003. She became a full-time mommy for the first couple of years and then returned to her career in Speech Therapy in March 2006 to work part-time at SkillSource, where she has been ever since.
Cathy has had the pleasure of working with many wonderful children and their families over the years and is very excited to be a part of the Kidz Korner SPOT! She has her national certification through ASHA and is licensed in the State of FL. She is also Beckman trained and certified in oral-motor therapy and has seen many children make significant progress in articulation, language, pragmatics, and feeding skills through the implementation of oral motor techniques. She has taken additional continuing education in the areas of autism spectrum disorders, pediatric swallowing, sensory-motor feeding, intro to myofunctional therapy, and has taken language development courses through the Hanen program. Cathy also has great interest in nutrition and in how that affects speech and language development.
Her joys in life include travel, snow-skiing, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She believes that building relationships and social interaction are very important in life and makes achieving that a goal for all of her speech kiddos through fun and creative speech and language therapy.
Amy Espy, MS, CCC-SLP
Amy was born and raised here in Fort Walton Beach. She graduated with a B.S. degree in Biology from The Florida State University in 2000, and a Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from The University of Alabama in 2002. She began her career working in the public school system in Hoover, AL and later Huntsville, AL. She returned to FWB in 2005 and began working in a pediatric clinic. Since having her two boys, she has been working in local private schools providing speech and reading therapy. Amy has a passion for language and reading development. She has taken additional continuing education in the areas of autism spectrum disorders, oral-motor, sensory processing, language and literacy, phonology and play therapy. She is trained in Beckman Oral Motor therapy and Orton Gillingham Approach for reading. She has her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed by the Florida Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology. She has over 16 years experience working with children in clinic and school settings.
Amy has been married to Drew (also a FWB native) since 2002 and they have two sons, Travis (born 2006) and James (born 2010). They enjoy playing and watching sports together. You can usually find them out on the water or on a ballfield. Having her own child diagnosed with autism and ADHD has given Amy firsthand experience in navigating various therapies and educational accommodations. She is eager to help, as well as learn from, the families that she serves. She is thrilled to be joining the team of SLPs, OTs, and PTs at Kidz Korner.
Brooke Weigand MS, CCC-SLP
Brooke Wiegand is a Certified Speech-Language Pathologist. She graduated with her Bachelor’s & Master’s degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders from the University of Central Florida. She is also a fellow member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
Brooke began her career working with elementary students in early childhood classrooms. Over the years, she’s had the kind privilege of watching children grow & improve their articulation, phonemic awareness, receptive & expressive language, & pragmatic skills. But of course, there’s more. Today, Brooke continues to come alongside children & families in the areas of early intervention, speech & language development, & parent/family education.
Brooke has a special interest in executive functioning, systems, & practical steps. She knows in-between where we are & where we would like to be, there’s practice. Brooke comes alongside you through the good work to help you & your child live what you’re learning. Grace included.
Outside of the office, Brooke, her husband, & daughter are taking care of their things & each other. Collecting stories worth sharing & memories worth remembering.
Kaela Goodwin, MS, CFY
Kaela graduated from the University of West Georgia in July 2017 with her master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology. She is licensed by the Florida Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology and is very excited to be completing her Clinical Fellowship at Kidz Korner to obtain her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Kaela is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana but with parents in the U.S Army, she spent her childhood traveling the world. She recently relocated to Crestview/ Fort Walton Beach area with her husband who is also in the Army and one year old son.
While in graduate school, Kaela completed multiple externships that were focused primarily on children with articulation and language disorders. Since then, she has chosen to complete her clinical fellowship in a pediatric setting to gain more experience in various speech/language disorders in children.
Kaela enjoys spending time with her family, summer days at the beach, car karaoke, and bowling.
Office Staff Biography
Melissa has over 10 years’ experience in the medical field. Her experience includes scheduling, insurance, minor medical procedures, and an overall love for children. Born in Beaver Falls Pennsylvania, she naturally is a diehard Steelers fan! She is married to Tim and has 3 wonderful children; Braylon, Adelyn, and Cooper. Her hobbies include shopping, going to the beach, boating, and cheering Braylon on at baseball and football games. Extremely family oriented, she will make you feel welcome and will assist you with any of your needs at Kidz Korner. She loves her job and loves all children that enter the doors at Kidz Korner.
